October 7, 2021

Lewis & Jones Group Ltd. sponsors the SW AAA Midget Cougars

Garret MacDonald (son of Lewis & Jones Group's Rob MacDonald) will be making the office proud this season wearing the Lewis & Jones sponsored jersey for home games this year. Lewis & Jones is thrilled to sponsor the Cougars this year with six Killarney boys making the roster. Have a great 2021/22 season!

Westman Wildcats U18 AAA Female Hockey Team sponsored 

Lewis and Jones is a proud sponsor of the The Westman Wildcats. The  U18 AAA Female Hockey program offers an elite level of hockey to players in the Westman region. Lewis and Jones Group will be proudly cheering on player Callie Hilhorst in the 2021-22 Season.

Westside Community Garden supported by Lewis and Jones 

The Westside Community Garden was created in 2011 by some keen gardeners in the Killarney area. Lewis & Jones is proud to support the project which allows gardeners of all ages to grow their own food in the shared space in town.

Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council receives funds to support Performing Arts

KTMAC received a boost from Lewis and Jones Group to support the upcoming performing arts series . The performing arts series for 2021/22 began Thursday October 7th, 2021 and  Lewis and Jones Group is happy to support the Arts Council in bringing these high quality events to Killarney.

Killarney Growing Project receives annual donation

Once again Lewis & Jones Group is pleased to support the Killarney Growing Project for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The Canadian Foodgrains Bank sees communities come together in over 200 growing projects across the country.  Each grow project involves many areas of the community, with support from farmers to fuel dealers, large equipment dealers to small local businesses, grain elevators staff to church congregations. Lewis & Jones Group donates $1,000 to KLGC for their water improvement project

A generous donation was made to the Killarney Lakeside Golf Course for their water improvement project. The project included switching from a well water system to the town supply.

Lewis & Jones is proud to sponsor Team McDonald for the 2021/22  Curling Season. The team includes Skip Kristy McDonald,  Killarney's  own Lisa Blixhavn as Third, Second Leslie Wilson, Lead Raunora Westcott and Alternate Lindsay Warkentin. Lewis & Jones awards two scholarships for 2021

Congratulations to the 2021 recipients of the Lewis & Jones Group Scholarship Abby Nichol and Aaron Mason. Lewis & Jones Group presents a $500 scholarship annually to students graduating from Killarney Collegiate Institute who demonstrate a commitment to academics, student leadership and community involvement.

Killarney School Staff & Educators thanked for their adaptability, perseverance, and dedication to the students of our community. 

Recognizing that health care providers, small businesses and educators had been most dramatically affected by changes in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic Lewis & Jones Group purchased gift certificates from several small, locally-owned businesses in town and gifted them to the 80 educators and staff at Killarney Collegiate Institute as a way of giving back to the community and saying 'thanks'.

Brett Warbeck helps local businesses adapt to 'Code Red' 

Brett Warbeck started a Facebook group to promote small, locally-owned businesses and craftspeople having to adapt or close their doors to the public as a result of the 'Code Red' restrictions implemented during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Manitoba. Brett offered free assistance in creating Facebook pages to local businesses that did not have an online business to help shoppers get in contact, view menus and take-out options for local restaurants and place shopping orders for curbside pickup or deliver.

David Jones walks 20 miles to raise funds for Killarney Foundation

Saturday November 14th David walked 40,000 steps (approximately 20 miles) to raise awareness for the "Endow Manitoba Challenge" and the many projects that the Killarney Foundation has contributed to around town. He visited several sites that have been past recipients of foundation grants. As a result of his efforts over $36,000 in donations were received from individual donors over the course of the weekend and following week.

Jennifer Bylo accepts a cheque on behalf of Killarney Minor Ball from Travis Hilhorst. Lewis & Jones Group along with Portage Mutual Insurance donated $500 to the Minor Ball Association.

A generous cheque from Wawanesa Insurance towards Fire Hall project

The Wawanesa Insurance company was inspired by Rob MacDonald, Insurance Broker with Lewis & Jones Group to donate a $7,500 cheque towards the construction of the new fire hall. The donation was presented by Abbie Smith and Kevin Bailey of Wawanesa Insurance along with Rob MacDonald to Troy Cuvelier, Fire Chief for the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain.

Fire Hall boost from Lewis & Jones Group

The new Fire Hall project received another boost with a $2,500 donation from Realtors Curtis Dickson and Marlee Cline. Lewis & Jones Group has committed a total of $10,000 towards the project,in $2,500 increments over the next 4 years. Fire Chief Troy Cuvelier is pictured here accepting the cheque on behalf of the Killarney Volunteer Fire Department.

Killarney Lake Action Committee members were thrilled at the phone call from the Lewis and Jones Group in Killarney with the news that they had been awarded $500 to donate to the Killarney Lake Aeration Project.

Lewis & Jones Group donated $1,000 to the Killarney 2018 Scott Tournament of Hearts organizing committee.

Killarney Volunteer Fire Department receives $1,500 donation

Following their 70th Anniversary Celebration Lewis & Jones Group donated $1,500 towards the purchase of protective equipment (an individual breathing apparatus) to the Killarney Volunteer Fire Department. $1,207 was collected in donations from their Anniversary pork on the bun lunch, $50 was donated by Butler Byers Insurance and  Lewis & Jones then rounded up the donation to a tidy $1,500.

Lewis & Jones, Wawanesa Insurance and the Insurance Women's Association support playground upgrade

Lewis & Jones Group, Along with Wawanesa Insurance handed over a cheque for $2,500 to Corinne MacDonald, chair of Killarney Parent Advisory Council (KPAC), in order to help pay for an upgrade to the Killarney School Playground equipment. Members of the Insurance Women's Association and Lewis & Jones Employees Karen Bernard and Cathy Desrochers also presented KPAC with a cheque for $500 towards the playground project.

Lewis & Jones group contributed a total of $5,000 towards the construction of the Erin Park Splash Park.

Shamrock Centre Fitness Centre sponsored by Lewis & Jones Group

Contributions totaling $75,000 from Lewis & Jones Group and their respective Insurance and Investment Company sponsors were used to construct the brand new "Lewis & Jones Group Fitness Centre" within the new Shamrock Centre Facility in Killarney.
